Don’t let those other city names fool you! The Palm Springs Life event titled Palm Desert Food & Wine is well-connected to the City of Rancho Mirage. That’s because, first off, this gastronomic gala—taking place on renowned El Paseo (the Palm Springs Valley’s Rodeo Drive) is presented by our very own Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa (www.hotwatercasino.com). And secondly, at press time, no less than 11 Rancho Mirage businesses will be represented during this fabulous weekend that takes place from Friday, April 8 through Sunday, April 10.
Those are Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse (www.babesbbque.com), Omni Rancho Las Palmas signature restaurant bluEmber (www.rancholaspalmas.com), Brandini Toffee (www.brandinitoffee.com), Catalan Mediterranean Restaurant (www.catalanrestaurant.com), Cello’s Pantry (www.cellospantry.com), Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar (www.fleminssteakhouse.com), Jensen’s (www.jensensfoods.com), Roy’s Restaurant (www.roysrestaurant.com), State Fare Bar + Kitchen at The Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage (www.ritzcarlton.com/ranchomirage), The Steakhouse at Agua Caliente, and Yard House (www.yardhouse.com).
With the theme “Modern Pairings,” this year’s edition of the Palm Desert Food & Wine festival—the 6th annual—kicks off on Friday, April 8 with the four-course James Beard Luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. James Beard-recognized celebrity chefs doing the honors include Cat Cora, Suzanne Tracht, Valerie Gordon, and Gale Gand.
Then, on Saturday and Sunday, participants will sample freely from the offerings of more than 40 local, regional, and national restaurants—not to mention 60 premium wineries, craft breweries, and spirit purveyors. Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage Executive Chef Bruno Lopez is a prime part of the live demo lineup. At the new “Pints & Plates” craft beer garden, Babe’s will be among those showcasing their artisanal liquid wares.

I’ll definitely be there, with my friend and fellow blogger Potter Palma, of course. The only question that remains is, “Saturday, Sunday, or both?” See you there, with bibs on!
