Anyone who knows me—and any reader who’s followed Diana’s and my blogs for the last six-plus years—knows that I am a humongous fan of Brandini Toffee. And by invoking the brand, I mean, of course, the yummy sweet stuff itself, the company and all its product offerings and employees, and the mastermind behind the entire mission, co-founder Brandon Weimer.
Brandini has pulled off some great accomplishments in its first 10 years of existence: its products are carried by Costco and have been sold on Home Shopping Network, and satellite locations have opened up in Palm Springs and at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets just west of the Palm Springs Valley on Interstate 10. None of it anything to sneeze at!
But my favorite Brandini spot by far is still the factory in the Rancho Las Palmas Shopping Center on Highway 111 at Bob Hope Drive. It’s a tad tough to find unless you know where it is: right behind the giant Hobby Lobby that obscures its view from the main thoroughfare. But if you seek it out, I’m sure you’ll be delighted you did.
Not only does the factory and its retail space afford a cool shelter from the summer heat, Brandon and his team offer fascinating guided tours that will take you behind the scenes to see exactly how the toffee, popcorn, and other assorted goodies are made—yep, still by hand from the original recipe, still right here in Rancho Mirage! In fact, the tours have become so popular that Brandini has set up a reservation area on its Facebook page. Find all the info you’ll need here: https://www.brandinitoffee.com/pages/factory-tour
And once you’ve visited the facility, make sure you stop off at the counter to grab some extra coolness. Yes, I’m talking a tasty toffee milkshake or ice cream bar. If either of those isn’t an antidote for triple digits, I don’t know what is. Enjoy!
